The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores. The LDB is committed to government's goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming.
Following legalization, the LDB began distribution and wholesale of cannabis, and operating BC Cannabis Stores in a number of locations across the province.
Career opportunities exist for auxiliary Cannabis Consultants throughout the province. Auxiliary positions are on-call, which means that hours of work are not guaranteed and will be subject to availability. Initially, you may not work a full 35 hour week. As you work more hours, you'll gain more seniority, allowing more opportunities for more hours of work. An auxiliary position is not a permanent full-time position.
Vacancies and ongoing opportunities will be divided into distinct Recall Areas. A recall area consists of either a single store or a number of stores grouped by geographical proximity.
Single Store Recall: If you are hired in a single store recall area, you will only be called to work in the store that hired you.
Multiple Store Recall Area (RA): If you are hired in a multiple store recall area, you will be told which location within that recall area you are expected to report to when you are called or pre-scheduled for work.
